It was never Richard and Ann Breslin's intention to start a martial arts school but when their outdoor training began drawing a crowd eager to participate, Power Within Karate began to take shape. Established in 1993, more than 1,000 students have received guidance from the Breslin's and has been a staple for karate instruction in Williston ever since. 

"Out of all the schools that came to our tournament, we always had the most female black belts. I am very proud of that," Ann said. "We have students in the highway patrol, police force, Army, Air Force, and so on. A lot have grown to be very successful in their lives spiritually and within their careers." 

   After teaching for upwards of four decades, it was time for the Breslin's to hang up their belts and pass the keys to two of their brightest pupils, Ryan Engberg and Wes White. Both sho dan black belts, Sensei Ryan and Wes took over leadership in 2015. 

   Sensei Ryan has been a student of the Breslin's since he was 4-years-old. He currently oversees the operation and tutelage of Power Within Karate in Williston.

It's his mission to instill discipline, camaraderie, and life lessons for his students.
